About the Pontiac Catalina 2+2 Model:
The Pontiac Catalina introduced the upscale 2+2 option in 1964 as a larger, more luxurious counterpart to the GTO. It featured bucket seats, a center console, special door panels, and unique exterior badging. In 1965, the 2+2 package came standard with a 421ci V8, dual exhaust, a performance 3.42 axle ratio, heavy-duty sports springs and shock absorbers, and decorative faux louvers on the exterior. The Hydramatic transmission was replaced with a new Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission. The Catalina nameplate was removed, leaving only the 2+2 designation.
